The aerosol particle scattering and backscattering coefficients at 450, 550, and 700 nm were measured at the surface level by an integrating nephelometer (model 3563, TSI Inc.) within the PEGASUS mobile platform located in Rambouillet, France – ACROSS project. The instrument was operated at 12 l min–1 through a certified PM1 inlet (Leckel GmbH) located approximately 2 m above ground level. Data were acquired continuously at 1 sec time resolution and averaged over 1-min. The time indicated in the datafile is the start time of the 1-min interval. Scattering data measured in the the angular range 7–170°, were corrected for angular truncation based on the formulation provided by Anderson and Ogreen (1998). Data acquired at ambient conditions were reported to Standard Temperature and Pressure conditions (STP, T=273.15 K, P=1013.25 mbar). The uncertainties given in the data file account for calibration and noise, estimated at 10% based on Anderson and Ogreen (1996) and include also uncertainties on truncation correction for truncated data. The scattering Angstrom exponent (SAE) was calculated as -log(sca(wavelength_1/ wavelength_2)/log(wavelength_1/ wavelength_2). Raw data were controlled manually to check periods when specific conditions prevented to do measurements or affected the quality of the measurements (power cut, disfunctioning). Data in correspondence of these periods are identified as -9999.999 and flagged with a "M" (missing). Valid data are reported with a "O" flag (operation). Detailed information on the dataset can be provided upon request to the author and the principal investigator.
