Infertility is a major health problem worldwide due to its deleterious psychological and physical effects. Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying its onset or occurrence is essential for the development of treatments or preventive measures. Studies have shown that RNA modifications, as novel post-transcriptional regulators, are involved in spermatogenesis, and hypoxia-induced alterations in RNA modification in testes and sperm cells may be associated with impaired permatogenesis in mice. However, the molecular mechanisms via which RNA modifications affect spermatogenesis under hypoxic stress conditions are unclear. This study evaluated the effects of alterations in RNA modifications in spermatids under hypoxic stress conditions, which might be responsible for changes in RNA stability and subsequent alterations in sncRNA expression profiles and the transcriptome. The findings of this study provide a basis for a better understanding of the pathophysiology of male infertility and could facilitate the development of preventive measures and treatment strategies for the condition Overall design: Gene expression profiles of GC-2spd cell line that growth under hypoxic conditions (3 replicates) or normal conditions (3 replicates).
