PhyloRef curated mitochondrial genome reference database for global fishes (Actinopterygii & Chondrichthyes, v2025.02) English Description This dataset is part of the PhyloRef project and provides a curated mitochondrial genome reference database for global fishes, covering both Actinopterygii (ray-finned fishes) and Chondrichthyes (cartilaginous fishes). All sequences were filtered, aligned, and phylogenetically validated using the PhyloRef workflow, which integrates automated data preprocessing, anomaly detection, and tree-based curation. The database aims to improve the accuracy and reliability of reference data used in environmental DNA (eDNA) and metabarcoding studies. The current release (v2025.02) includes: Actinopterygii: Over 7,000 high-quality, non-redundant mitochondrial genomes. Chondrichthyes: Over 300 curated mitochondrial genomes. Each taxonomic group is provided as a compressed archive containing FASTA files, GenBank files, and phylogenetic tree visualization PDFs.
