Value of funding for fossil fuel companies by French leading banks 2016-2019

In spite of the growing pressure exerted on banks to shift energy financing towards more sustainable paths, some of France's largest banks kept increasing their financing to companies which are involved in the life cycle of fossil fuels. For instance, the BNP Paribas Group spent a total of 84,223 billion dollars in financing for companies active in the fossil fuel sector between 2016 and 2019.
