Current Population Survey, August 2002: Public Participation in the Arts

<p>Data are provided on labor force activity for the week prior to the survey. Comprehensive data are available on the employment status, occupation, and industry of persons 15 years old and over. Also shown are personal characteristics such as age, sex, race, marital status, veteran status, household relationship, educational background, and Hispanic origin. In addition, the file provides supplemental data on participation, activities, and frequency of participation in the arts of persons 18 years of age or older. The art participation and activities refer to the period between August 1, 2001, to August 1, 2002. Data are provided on attendance at art events and frequency, participation other than through attendance (watching and listening through broadcast and recorded media and personal participation by performing or creating art themselves), socialization (training and exposure to the arts, particularly while young), and music and art event preferences. This file also includes parents' education, number of art-related trips taken and length and distance of trips, Internet use to learn about, discuss, listen to, view, or read about art events, and how much time they spent a week doing this.
