The German Internet Panel (GIP) is an infrastructure project. The GIP serves to collect data about individual attitudes and preferences which are relevant for political and economic decision-making processes.
The questionnaire contains numerous experimental variations in the survey instruments and an experiment which is identical across all questionnaires. For more information see the study documentation.
Topics: Opinion on current political issues: ALG II: preference for the current or a revised regulation of the ALG II with respect to the standard rates and the supplementary income limit; expected impact of the amended ALG II regulation on the share of ALG II job-seeking recipients; perceived budget effect of the amended ALG II regulation on the financial situation of selected groups (the unemployed, low-income employees and high-income employees); perceived effect of this amended ALG-II regulation on own income; perceived effect of an anticipated general wage reduction of three per cent on labor demand; estimated percentage by which labor demand would increase or decrease; willingness to pay for this reform, if the own standard of living would increase; amount of such financial compensation.

Opinion on a school safety law due to rampage; preferred candidate as a judge of the Federal Constitutional Court, on the basis of selected attributes: occupation, closeness to a party, selection, age, origin, gender, and marital status; satisfaction with the respective candidates 1 and 2 if they were elected as a judge of the Federal Constitutional Court; left-right self-placement; left-right-placement of the Federal Government and of the Federal Constitutional Court; knowledge of the acting president and of a judge of the Federal Constitutional Court; left-right placement of parties (CDU, CSU, SPD, FDP, Bündnis90 /Die Grünen, Die Linke, and Alternative für Deutschland.
Additionally coded was: unique ID, GIP; household identifier and person identifier; date of the interview; current online status; assignment to experimental groups; survey evaluation; assessment of the survey in total.
Assigned variables: sex; year of birth (categories); highest educational degree; highest professional degree; marital status; number of household members (household size); employment status; residence state; year of recruitment; German citizenship; private internet usage.
