The goal of this study was to characterize a de novo insertion of chromosome 18 (D18Z1) alpha satellite DNA (~100-200 kb) into chromosome 15q26 euchromatin in an individual. We performed Pacific Biosciences (PacBio) high-fidelity (HiFi), Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) adaptive sampling, and Illumina sequencing to identify the breakpoints and origin of the insertion.
