Fill from an area of charcoal-stained sediment and fire-cracked limestone in the south side
of a trench associated with the installation of an Agave Energy Corporation gas pipeline in
southeast New Mexico was floated to recover macrofloral remains. The sampled area is believed
to represent a mechanically disturbed ring midden. An undisturbed ring midden was found about
20 meters to the north of the sampled area. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide information
concerning plant resources that might have been processed in this area, as well as types of wood
burned as fuel.
