From numerous individual studies over the past 25 years, the sedimentological work results have been revised, standardised and compiled for an overall overview of the distribution of the near-surface watt sediments in the Lower Saxony Watten. Three Wat types were distinguished: Slick, slick sand (mixed cotton) and sand. In addition, seaweed stocks, mussel and shingle banks were identified as separate areas.
