DNA and RNA sequencing of Bengalese finch and White-rumped munia

The Bengalese finch (Lonchura striata var. domestica) is a songbird domesticated in Japan and derived from the wild White-rumped munia (L. striata). In this study, to investigate the genomic history and genetic changes underlying the domestication of Bengalese finch from the White-rumped munia, we performed population genomic analysis on the newly sequenced genomes from both populations and integrated these data with transcriptomic analyses of the hypothalamus.
