NRS-1139 | Minutes of meetings [Corrective Services Building Programme and Development Committee]

In late 1978, the Minister for Corrective Services, in consultation with the Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Works, decided to set up a Planning and Development Committee to plan the development of new and existing gaols, and, in particular, the Parklea project. The Committee was established under the chairmanship of Mr J. B. Holliday, Under-Secretary of the Department of Services, and included senior representatives of the Corrective Services Commission, Premier's Department, Treasury and the Government Architect. The Committee had its first meeting on 6 December 1978, and its efforts were directed primarily towards planning the construction of Parklea Prison and the redevelopment of Bathurst Gaol. These are copies of minutes for meetings 1-10 and 12, and the original handwritten minutes for meetings 1-10.
