Characterization Of Genomic Variants Associated With Scout And Recruit Behavioral Castes In Honey Bees. Apis mellifera

Whole genome sequencing was used to identify genomic variants associated with scouting behavior. Foragers from a one-patriline colony derived from a queen that was inseminated with the semen of a single drone was used. Scout and recruit bees were identified by proven scouting and recruit behaviors, respectively. Single nucleotide polymorphisms were identified from whole genome sequences and associated with scout or recruit behaviors.
