SIGDATA

SIGDATA is an open-source hardware platform developed for the continuous monitoring of agroclimatic variables and synchronized image acquisition for the study of Black Sigatoka (Pseudocercospora fijiensis) in banana plantations. The system was designed as a low-cost, scalable solution for precision agriculture, enabling autonomous operation in rural areas with limited access to electrical infrastructure and Internet connectivity. This repository provides all the resources required to manufacture, assemble, program, and reproduce the platform, including electronic design files developed in Altium Designer®, schematic diagrams, PCB layouts, Gerber files, Bill of Materials (BOM), firmware, desktop software, and technical documentation. SIGDATA integrates two independent subsystems: one for agroclimatic data acquisition and another for periodic image capture using an ESP32-CAM module. All data are stored locally on a microSD card, while the platform incorporates an autonomous power system based on photovoltaic solar panels, a mini UPS, and Deep Sleep power management to reduce energy consumption. This repository is intended to promote scientific reproducibility and facilitate the reuse and adaptation of the hardware for future applications in precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence for crop disease monitoring.
