Molecular epidemiology of Enterococcus faecium over a 10 year period at a single institution

Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VREfm) continues to increase and spread within healthcare facilities despite widespread implementation of hand hygiene programs and infection control measures. This study looks at the evolution of E. faecium blood culture isolates over a 10 year period at a single institution to investigate the impact of changing healthcare practice on the evolution of VRE.
