This metadata record provides details of the data supporting the claims of the related manuscript: “Neighborhood deadwood and yard rewilding modulate commensal microbiomes and inflammatory signals among urbanites”. The related intervention study rewilded urban private yards with diverse vegetation and decaying deadwood and plant residuals. The study evaluated the effect of rewilding, and yard management practices on commensal microbiome and salivary cytokine levels, and gene pathways. Type of data: Anonymized plant, deadwood, polypore inventory data and oral microbiome taxa and functional gene pathway data. Sample size: 36 Population characteristics: The medical exclusion criteria included immune deficiencies, a disease affecting immune response, cancer diagnosis within the last year or on-going cancer treatment. Other exclusion criteria included incompetency and living outside city area. Inclusion criteria was that the form of housing in a detached or row house. Recruitment: Study subjects were recruited from three metropolitan regions in Finland; Helsinki, Lahti and Turku. Trial registration number: https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT06353035
