Holdings; company size and legal form

This table contains data on the number of companies and institutions by main economic activity, based on the 2008 Standard Business Classification (SBI 2008). In this table, the SBI is limited to sectors 3 rd digit. The companies are further classified by company size based on the number of persons employed and by legal form. This is the business population of the Netherlands. The business population is a snapshot on the first day of each quarter. This table is published here for the programme ‘SMEs and Entrepreneurship’. Data available from: 1 January 2007. Status of the figures: The figures up to 2022 are final, the 2023 figures are more provisional and the figures for 2024 are provisional. Changes as of 23 January 2024: The data for the 1st quarter of 2024 have been added. Data for 2022 and 2023 may have been adjusted on the basis of information fulfilled. Amendments as of 13 October 2023: The data for the 4th quarter of 2023 have been added. Data for 2022 and 2023 may have been adjusted on the basis of information fulfilled. An improved use of ownership and ownership data has identified a different activity for many companies in the industry, 6420 Financial holding companies.The main activities of this group are 7010 Holdings, internal group services and 7022 Organizational Advisory Agencies etc. When will there be new figures? Quarterly figures are published in the first month of each quarter.
