Another report for A. nana from Ethiopia with 2n = 36, FN = 48 but presumed acrocentric X chromosomes (Tolera et al., 2021) was omitted here because of unclear species classification. In the same publication the authors described a similar karyotype with 2n = 36 and acrocentric X chromosomes also for P. pipistrellus which has 2n = 44 and metacentric X in Europe. The karyotype of Neoromicia hlandzeni, a new species described recently by Taylor et al. (2022), was published under the previously valid name N. anchietae
