Whole-genome sequencing and de novo assembly of 29 dent and flint maize inbred lines

We have sequenced PacBio HiFi reads and generated de novo genome sequence assemblies for key founder temperate maize inbred lines with major interest for ongoing breeding programs in Europe. These 29 inbred lines encompass Northern and European flint lines used for adaptation to Northern European climate, inbred lines derived from European landraces of tropical origin, as well as American dent lines from several heterotic groups (Stiff Stalk, Iodent, Lancaster) including lines with expired Plant Variety Protection Act certificates (ex-PVP) with high yield performance.
