To investigate the interactive effect of D. magna (predation) and dispersal on the diversity and underlying assembly mechanisms of bacterial metacommunities. This was assessed by a microcosm experiment with artificial metacommunities consisting of three local communities (water from three different rock pools). Six different metacommunities were created by applying a 2-factorial design with 3 levels of dispersal among patches and presence or absence of D. magna.
