Assignment: Beauty contest preliminary winner. 26, 27, 38, 80, 81: This 5' 8" 126-pound 19-year old UCLA freshman who is studying apparel merchandising, Miss Jeri Miller, of 130 Roycroft Avenue, won judges' votes at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium contest (May 20 at 10p.m.) and will compete with girls from 15 other Southland cities May 30 at the Municipal Auditorium for "Miss Welcome to Long Beach". "Miss Welcome to Long Beach" will be the official greeter of 80 international beauties arriving June 23rd for the week long Miss Universe Pageant, and will have a float in the June 25th parade".
