The recent emergence of SARS-CoV-2 circulating variants has led to a second wave of epidemics in multiple countries worldwide. Many people remain at risk of being infected due to vaccine shortages and breakthrough infections with SARS-CoV-2 variants. We have developed a thermostable, egg yolk-derived intranasal antibody against the SARS-CoV-2 original, as well as variant strains, which can effectively prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection in a mouse model. This antibody demonstrated good thermostability and broadly neutralizing activity in cells against multiple variants of concern. This low-cost vaccine supplement from vaccinated laying hens promises an option for use in high-risk populations.
