Erfahrung mit Forsyths 'Ethic Position Questionnaire? (EPQ): Bedeutungsunabhängigkeit von Idealismus und Realismus oder Akquieszens und Biplorarität?

Für das Ethic Position Questionnaire EPQ (Forsyth, 1980) wird eine deutsche Übersetzung vorgestellt (im Anhang enthalten). Daten einer heterogenen Gelegenheitsstichprobe (N=132) zeigen einen deutlich zweifaktoriellen Eigenwerteverlauf der Interkorrelationen der 20 Items. Eine perfekte Itemzuordnung kann sowohl für das von Forsyth intendierte Modell unabhängiger Dimensionen "ethischer Idealismus" und "ethischer Relativismus" als auch für das äquivalente Modell eins bipolarer Faktors "Idealismus s. Relativismus" bei Elimination der Akquieszens gezeigt werden. Auch die im Bedeutungsunabhängigkeitsmodell gewonnenen Dimensionen korrelieren im Wertekreis nach Schwartz (14-Bipol-Form nach Strack) fast genau entgegengesetzt. Die Zusammenhänge mit den ethischen Prinzipien Deontologie, Utilitarismus, Hedonismus, Intuitionismus und Partikularismus weisen das Bipolaritätsmodell mit dem Forsyth?schen Orthogonalitätsmodell ebenfalls als äquivalent aus. Der EPQ handelt sich diese Zweideutigkeit ein, da er keine Items enthält, deren Polung Pragmatismus und Allgemeingültigkeit formulieren. The paper presents a German translation of the Ethic Position Questionnaire EPQ (Forsyth, 1980). Data of a heterogeneous sample (N=132) show the two-dimensional structure of the 20 items according to their Eigenvalues. PCA with Varimax-Rotation resulted in the independence model of ethic idealism and ethic relativism according to Forsyth. But intercorrelations match a model of acquiescence and an orthogonal bipolar dimension of idealism vs. relativism as well. Both models are statistically equivalent as it is shown by structural modelling. The ambiguity of the EPQ remains in correlations within Schwartz' values circle (14-bipole-questionaire, Strack): The dimensions of the independent model correlate in opposite directions. However, correlations with direct measures of deontology, utilitarism, hedonism, intuitionism, and particularism can't decide between both models either. The Bipolar model could not been rejected. The ambiguity of the EPQ is due to it's lack of items towards pragmatism and universal criteria.
