Geospatial Data for the Milwaukee County Grounds Cemeteries, Wisconsin, USA

This dataset provides geographic boundaries and metadata for four historic cemeteries (ca. 1852–1974) on the Milwaukee County Institutional Grounds, Wisconsin, USA. Boundaries were synthesized from archival records, historical maps, aerial imagery, and prior scholarly publications, and digitized using standard GIS tools. It includes a shapefile for the cemeteries and a metadata table documenting site numbers, burial counts, and temporal information. All files are stored in widely used GIS formats and licensed for open reuse. The dataset supports integration with other spatial sources, validation of historical research, comparative analysis, and teaching, and serves as a community-led example of transparent and reusable geospatial data in heritage studies.
