Data For Constraints on Cardiac Pumping Capacity and Blood Oxygen Extraction Limit the Hypoxia Tolerance of Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar) at Warm Temperatures

This study acutely warmed Atlantic salmon (from 10 to 14 and 18°C) before exposing them to progressive hypoxia to assess how thermal history influences physiological thresholds and the mechanisms underpinning this species’ response to oxygen deprivation. This dataset includes all cardiorespiratory data, including heart rate, stroke volume, cardiac output, oxygen consumption and blood oxygen extraction, and the salmon's critical oxygen tension (Pcrit) and the oxygen level at which both initiation of bradycardia (IOB) and loss of equilibrium (LOE) occurred.
