资源简介:
The Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 samples were isolated from series of experiments that examine how gene expression is affected as microbes sense and respond to changes in surface potential of electrodes. Utilizing RNA sequence analysis, this data unveils the gene expression behavior within a specific metabolic pathway, possibly linking genomic regulation of metabolic processes planktonic and biofilm cells employ as a mechanism for the microbes' response to changes in surface potential. Briefly, the experiments consisted of exposing MR-1 planktonic and biofilm cells to 0, 75, 125 and 200 mV external voltage potentials. Biofilm and planktonic samples were then collected and RNA was isolated from samples. Sequencing was conducted utilizing the Illumina Sequencing platform in collaboration with the University of Southern California Gene Sequencing Core Facility. The raw sequencing data of the entire transcriptome are provided in this repository. The results from these studies provide the gene expression dynamics of the mtr pathway genes, including the mtrA, mtrB, mtrC, cymA and omcA in both biofilm and planktonic MR-1 isolates when exposed to increasing external voltage potential. These data also provides gene expression dynamics of non-mtr pathway genes in both planktonic and biofilm WT MR-1 samples. All of these samples were collected at the University of Southern California in Dr. Kenneth Nealson''s Laboratory in 2015. The data generated from this study may suggest other microbial processes involved and may illuminate the gene expression behavior preferences that biofilm populations exhibit that differ from those of planktonic populations.
