We have screened a B. subtilis strain H19 isolated from the East China Sea for the production of inhibitory substances against Aquatic pathogens, whose antimicrobial peptides exhibited antibacterial activity not only against Gram-positive bacteria but also against Gram-negative bacteria, especially Vibrio parahaemolyticus.However, in order to predict gene sequences encoding antimicrobial peptides and further explore the pathogenic mechanism of B. subtilis strain H19 against pathogens, it is necessary to have a deeper understanding of the genetic background of the strains.
