Digital Archive from an Archaeological Evaluation at Longforth Farm, Wellington, Somerset, September 2019

This collection comprises site images and records, a report, spreadsheet data, and a CAD vector drawing from an archaeological evaluation at Longforth Farm, Wellington, Somerset. The works were conducted by Oxford Archaeology in September 2019. The two evaluation trenches revealed thick layers of colluvium under plough-soil. Trench 2 revealed evidence of a trackway shown on 19th century OS maps, running from Longforth Farm to Wellington. Glass and pottery sherds of 18th-19th century date were collected from associated deposits. Two features cut into a clay horizon were exposed and sample excavated in Trench 1. One of them was a tree-throw, whilst the second, though also a natural feature, contained a broken piece of prehistoric struck flint.
