Plant functional trait expression and insect herbivore performance metrics in a drought and pest simulation greenhouse experiment

This data set includes insect herbivory and growth rates recorded on pots in a greenhouse pest and drought simulation experiment at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD, from July to September 2022. We sampled plant functional traits such as photosynthetic and photoprotection parameters, as well as specific leaf area, percent leaf water content, and plant performance traits, eight weeks after planting on 576 experimental soybeans inoculated with one of 24 rhizobial strains collected from a single field population in Central Maryland.
