Kazakhstan Short-Term Economic Indicator

Kazakhstan’s short-term economic indicator—which tracks monthly GDP growth—rose by 9.3% year-on-year in the period from January to July 2025. This was up from a 9% increase in the first half of the year and a significant jump from the 4.1% growth recorded in the same period of 2024. It was the fastest pace of expansion since records began in 2008, driven by strong performances in key sectors such as transport and storage (22.5%), construction (18.5%), wholesale and retail trade (8.6%), and mining and quarrying (8.5%). At the regional level, growth was led by Astana (19.1%), the Turkestan Region (17.7%), and Shymkent (15.4%).
