VPRS 16843 Orthopaedic Section, Photographs

The series contain photographs of Orthopedic Section inpatients.P1 consignment:These volumes contain clinical photographs of in-patients. Patient details included with each photo are the patient's name, date of birth, date of admission and diagnosis.The photographer is assumed to be Joe Szczepanski who was employed by the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) in the late 1940s and 1950s. His style is unique. These photographs have been arranged and described consistent with the manner that photographer, Joe Szczepanski used. Copyright is held by the RCH.Some volumes have a name index at the back of the volume.P2 consignment :The p2 consignment contains photographs of the Orthopaedic Section staff. It depicts the first two years of activities from the opening of the Craft Hostel at Frankston in 1937.Each image has a typed label which identifies visitors, staff, patients, activities and buildings. The album is water damage at some stage and is quite stained. The emulsion of some photographs has adhered to others when they were wet and these are badly damaged. The covers of the album have been removed due to water damage and rusting of metal parts.Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Archives. They were part of RCH accession number 2001/011.
