Phytoplankton monitoring network, pursuant to Legislative Decree 152/06. The stations for the qualitative-quantitative determination of phytoplankton are located on 7 transepts perpendicular to the coast (Lido di Volano, P. Garibaldi, Casalborsetti, Lido Adriano, Cesenatico, Rimini and Cattolica) and 0.5 and 3 km from the shoreline. The number and location of survey stations make it possible to make a sufficient assessment of the extent and impact of algal blooms and of the pressures on the coastal strip.
