The dataset contains records of democratic electoral institutions for multiple African countries, used to assess whether a country is an electoral democracy. Based on the classification criteria of Lührmann et al. (2018) and the assessment by V-Dem’s experts, countries are classified as democratic (1) or non-democratic (0). The dataset includes 1,476 rows of data, split into a training set (1,180 rows) and a test set (295 rows), with each record containing 5 variables (2 numeric, 3 categorical). The data originates from The Charter Project and was published via OpenAfrica, last updated on 2023-04-13.
