Stenotrophomonas maltophilia ESTM1D_MKCAZ16_6a (Sm18) Genome sequencing and functional genomics

Complete genome sequence of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia ESTM1D_MKCAZ16_6a (isolate Sm18) recovered from the sediments of a clean river (Las Estacas) in Central Mexico (Morelos), as described in PMID: 28861062. This strain belongs to the Stenotrophomonas maltophilia sensu stricto lineage (PMID: 29765358) and was reported to replicate within acid, Rab7A-positive vacuoles of the free-living amoeba Acanthamoeba castellanii (Amoebozoa) (PMID: 38319117). This organism is used as a model strain in our laboratory at the Center for Genome Sciences - UNAM (CCG-UNAM) to study host-microbe interactions, with a focus on metallostasis and redox homeostasis in the adaptation to intracellular life in phagocytic cells.
