Lab-scale moving bed biofilm reactors treating syntheitic wastewater that are rich in sulfate. The aims of this project are to examine the effects of changes in wastewater composition in high sulfate environment on: (1) key functional groups within the microbial community of biofilms; (2) nutrient removal rates; (3) sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) within these systems.
