Terminal materialism is regarded to be harmful, however, few studies focus on how to reduce this value. This study, examined the relationship between future time perspective and terminal materialism to suggest a promising strategy to decrease terminal materialism. Participants who were experimentally induced to a limited time perspective became less materialistic than those in the open time and control groups. Our findings indicate that a limited-time perspective can serve as an effective means for intervening in terminal materialism.
