We reported high-density encapsulation of MSCs in Matrigel beads, distributed in sparse pattern, augmenting mouse volumetric skeletal muscle tissue with reduced fibrosis. Five groups were designed accordingly: (1) Normal group (without defect, normal regeneration); (2) non-treated group (defect only, without any treatment); (3) Matrigel HDG-MSCs group; (4) Matrigel LDB-MSCs group; (5) Matrigel HDB-MSCs group. The mice received the same amount of MSCs loaded in these three types of hydrogel in the traumatic injury.
