Performative Documentary, Artistic Research, and Emancipatory Pedagogy: The performative documentary encourages students to become active researchers and to understand their practice as an open-ended process in which thinking and making are intertwined. It employs art as a discursive tool, often extending beyond traditionally defined mediums and methods. Its reflexivity fosters self-critique in the representation process. This paper aims to define documents and performativity in filmmaking, focusing on its methods, artistic processes, and cultural-political significance and exploring how this practice-based knowledge can be adapted into a teaching method.
