资源简介:
Building upon the foundations laid by the authors of the New Testament and subsequent church fathers such as Origen, St. Augustine, Tyconius the Donatist, Thomas Aquinas, Nicholas of Lyra, and notably Faber, M. Luther embarked on a quest to discern the true meaning of the Holy Scriptures. However, departing from the emphasis of previous traditions, which underscored the spiritual meaning as the intended interpretation of the Author, M. Luther introduced a novel perspective. He emphasized the dual nature of the Word of God, comprising both the letter, which ‘kills’, and the Spirit, which ‘gives life’. According to M. Luther, the proclamation of the Word must first evoke a sense of condemnation through the letter, representing the Law’s second use, before offering spiritual renewal through the proclamation of the Gospel. While acknowledging the possibility of additional meanings beyond the literal, M. Luther distinguished the spiritual or prophetic meaning from allegory. He asserted that the spiritual meaning, which he identified as the literal-prophetic sense, was not merely allegorical but rather the interpretation intended by the Author of the Holy Scriptures.
