Deciphering mycorrhizal fungi in cultivated Phalaenopsis microbiome with next-generation sequencing of multiple barcodes

To identify the fungal community in roots of Phaelaenopsis orchid, we amplified the metagenome in orchid roots with six barcoding markers and sequenced with Illumina GAIIx. With this study, we showed the relative abundances of these co-existing fungi, compared the power in resolving species identity among six markers, and highlighted important partners involved in mycorrhizal formation.
