In the Ross Sea, phytoplankton form massive blooms during the austral spring. With iron-limiting conditions found throughout the Southern Ocean, iron likely plays a key role in bloom formation. This study examined transcript-level changes in a key Antarctic phytoplankton taxa, Phaeocystis antarctica, in response to varying iron concentrations.
