Instances for the Two-Echelon Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem with Intermediate Facilities

The 2E-CVRP-IF instances are derived from real operational data of Saltillo, Coahuila (Mexico)'s municipal solid waste morning-shift collection system. The network comprises four node types: a depot (D) from which collection vehicles (CVs) depart and return; customer nodes representing urban settlements whose demand and service time are derived from residential population; two intermediate facilities (IF1, IF2) where CVs unload and synchronize with transportation vehicles (TVs); and a landfill (L) from which TVs operate. Customer demand is estimated at 1.8 kg per inhabitant per day, allocating one-third of weekly generation to the morning shift, and service time is proportional to population. Any customer whose demand exceeds the maximum CV capacity of 12,000 kg is replaced by an equivalent number of identical sub-nodes, so the actual node count stored in a file may exceed the nominal count appearing in its filename.
