A dataset of glacier in the Gangdisê Mountains in 2016

The Gangdisê Mountains (29°14′-33°42′ N, 78°52′-90°03′ E) extend across the southeastern part of the Tibet Autonomous Region. Starting at Sassel Ridge in the south-eastern part of the Karakorum in the west and ending at the southwest part of the Namco in the east, the Gangdisê Mountains connect to the western part of the Nyainqetanglha Range. The Gangdisê Mountains are roughly parallel to the Himalayas and have a NW-SE trend. The Gangdisê Mountains are one of the most striking tectonic units in the southern margin of the Tibetan Plateau and Eurasia. The glacier types in the Gangdisê Mountains include polar glaciers in the western part and continental glaciers in the eastern part. This Gangdisê Mountains glacier dataset was developed by integrating several data sources: the revised First Chinese Glacier Inventory (FCGI), the Second Chinese Glacier Inventory (SCGI), Landsat OLI images for 2015-2016 and ASTER GDEM. At the same time, the information of glacier coding, name, basin and so on was added. The dataset reflect the glacier distributions in the Gangdisê Mountains from 2015 to 2016, and can be used for research on the glacier and climate changes in the region.

冈底斯山脉（北纬29°14′-33°42′，东经78°52′-90°03′）横亘于西藏自治区东南部。自西部的喀喇昆仑山脉东南部的萨塞尔脊起始，直至东部的纳木错西南部，冈底斯山脉与念青唐古拉山脉的西部相连。冈底斯山脉与喜马拉雅山脉大致平行，呈西北-东南走向。冈底斯山脉是青藏高原及欧亚大陆南部最显著的构造单元之一。山脉内的冰川类型包括西部的极地冰川和东部的大陆冰川。本冈底斯山脉冰川数据集通过整合多种数据源开发而成，包括修订版的第一批中国冰川目录（FCGI）、第二批中国冰川目录（SCGI）、2015-2016年的Landsat OLI影像以及ASTER GDEM。同时，增加了冰川编码、名称、流域等信息。该数据集反映了2015至2016年间冈底斯山脉的冰川分布，可用于该地区冰川及气候变化研究。
