EV CAR CAN BUS DATA

This dataset comprises raw CAN bus messages collected from five different EV car manufacturers. The primary focus of the dataset is on battery-related messages, although it also includes other general car communication messages. These raw CAN bus messages represent the fundamental data exchanged between various components of the electric vehicle, such as the battery management system (BMS), motor controller, and other electronic control units (ECUs). However, to fully decode and interpret these raw messages into human-readable formats such as voltage, temperature, or state-of-charge values, corresponding DBC (Database CAN) files are required. These DBC files serve as a key or translation map that defines the structure and meaning of the raw data, including signal names, data scaling, and offsets. Unfortunately, these DBC files are proprietary and are not publicly available due to manufacturer restrictions, and hence, they are not included in this data package. The dataset is invaluable for researchers or developers looking to explore EV battery systems but requires the user to have prior access to the necessary DBC files to extract actionable insights.
