Desiccation hardening increased survival time of the predatory mite Neoseiulus barkeri Hughes (Acari: Phytoseiidae) under the combined stress of high temperature and desiccation, which is beneficial for biological control of spider mites at hot and arid condition. Transcriptomic analyses of predatory mite during desiccation hardening is a good way to know the mechanism of the enhanced tolerance of this mite to combined heat and desiccation stress.
