Excavation at Cricklepit Street, Exeter 1974 (Exeter archive site 48)

Following the collapse of a 40m. length of the city wall, the City Engineer's Department undertook emergency measures to consolidate the rest of the wall in this area. It proved possible, in one trench, to remove some of the layers under controlled conditions, and thus to retrieve material with which to date the 5 main periods of activity revealed there and elsewhere.
