Abstract Life on Earth is sustained by complex interactions between organisms and their environment. These biotic interactions can be captured in datasets and published digitally. We describe a review process of such an openly accessible digital interactions dataset of known origin, and discuss their outcome. The dataset under review (aka globalbioticinteractions/universityces2023) has size 128KiB and contains 20 interactions with 4 unique types of associations (e.g., flowersVisitedBy) between 9 primary taxa (e.g., Xanthosoma) and 11 associated taxa (e.g., Cyclocephala tutilina Burmeister, 1847). The report includes detailed summaries of interactions data as well as a taxonomic review from multiple perspectives. Please note that the pilot contributors have opted to shared their review, metadata, and data.
