Municipal indicator to make the link between air quality and health impacts. Indicator calculated over 3 years from the annual average data of suspended particulates (PM2.5) modelled fine scale. Suspended particles, commonly referred to as “dust”, mainly come from the combustion for energy purposes of different materials (wood, coal, oil), road transport (burnt in the exhaust, wear of mechanical parts by friction, tyres...) and from a wide variety of industrial activities (steering, incineration, photoheating, heating).
Regulatory oversight includes PM10 particles (diameters less than 10 µm) but also PM2.5 (diameters less than 2.5 µm).
