SUM FOOD: Regional food paths using the example of the City of Vienna for the product group Vegetables

The report outlines the interactions between the city of Vienna and its surrounding areas with regard to the regional supply of food, using the example of vegetables. Calculations and research show that the population’s demand for vegetables can be met in principle. There is still a need for individual vegetables and processed products, as well as with regard to the required amounts of vegetables according to dietary recommendations. In dialogue with regional stakeholders, ways of promoting the expansion of regional vegetable supply between urban and urban areas were discussed. Appropriate labelling of products and awareness-raising measures are intended to address local agricultural land as a valuable resource.
