Rancho Cienega de la Tijera Adobe from the east, ca.1924

Photograph of the front exterior view of the Rancho Cienege de la Tijera main adobe farmhouse in disrepair, ca.1924. Previously the home of Thomas Sanchez (later 4201 Crenshaw Boulevard, Baldwin Hills). A wooden roof extends from the 2-story adobe to cover a wooden porch in front. The house is only one story further back. A couple of other ranch buildings are visible in the background. A wheelbarrow sits near a wood post and rail fence in the left foreground. A chicken struts near one one of the wood posts of the porch roof. A sawhorse is visible in the middle foreground at bottom. A box on the dilapidated porch reads ..."Nestles Alpine Milk". Pails, planks, and other objects litter the general area.; "Historic adobe of La Cienega ranch marked. -- The historic La Cienega O Paso de la Tijera, an adobe structure built in 1795 by Don Vincenta Sanchez, became officially recognized as one of the important historic spots of California yesterday when the history and landmarks committee of the California Parlor, Native Daughters of the Golden West, had placed thereon a bronze plaque on which was inscribed the history of the building. -- The structure stands at what is now 4201 Crenshaw Boulevard on the Sunset Fields golf grounds, and preceding the marking ceremony a breakfast was served at the clubhouse with Mrs. Ralph Loyd Tuttle as toastmistress. -- Mrs. Ysabell Dexter Monroe, chairman of the history and landmarks committee; Mrs. Erma Laird, grand president of the California parlor, and Mrs. Alfred R.
