Deep sequencing analysis of toad Rhinella schneideri mucous gland and poison partial biochemical characterization. The transcriptome of Rhinella schneideri mucous gland

RNA-seq analysis from R. schneideri mucous gland and biochemical tests with the gland secretion were performed to unravel its protein molecules. The cDNA was sequenced on Illumina HiSeq 2500 platform and poison was fractioned by reversed-phase-fast protein liquid chromatography and had some enzyme activities assessed. As results, several antimicrobial peptides were identified and a phospholipase A2 was isolated from its poison.
